Choosing the Best Coffee K Cups

Posted by Admin on 11 Feb 2011 | Filed under: Uncategorized

Choosing the best coffee k cups for you and others to enjoy can be extremely expensive if you are purchasing several full boxes at a time. Especially if you are unhappy with the k cup you have purchased. So how do you decide on what coffee k cups you should purchase without wasting a lot of time searching for the best product, over spending, and purchasing product you are not satisfied with. Wouldn’t you rather be satisfied with the purchase you have made? Here are a few tips to help guide you through the k cup coffee selection process.

A great place to begin when choosing the best coffee k cups, is to first determine coffee roast level and origin of coffee you prefer. There are a large variety of coffee roasts you can choose from when purchasing coffee. If you have no idea of the roast level you prefer, visit a local grocery store or coffee shop and ask for a sample of the different coffee roast levels. This will help you get an idea of the roast your taste buds prefer. Keep in mind that there are hundreds of coffee beans to choose from all over the world. Different regions of the world produce coffee with extremely different tastes. Taking a few minutes to search online for the type of flavors you might enjoy in your coffee can help you narrow it down to a specific region. Once you know that you prefer coffee for example from Costa Rica, visit your local grocery store, purchase a small sample of the coffee and perform a taste test. Remember that every coffee roaster will roast the same coffee differently and the taste of the coffee can have dramatic flavor differences.

Purchasing your coffee k cups becomes so much easier once you have narrowed down the roast level you prefer along with the region the coffee comes from. Now you are able to perform a specific search instead of a general search for your coffee. Check out the product reviews for the different coffee companies to find out which one has developed a strong reputation for producing a quality coffee k cup. When you have found the manufacturer that has the coffee roasted at the level you think you may like, conduct an online search for the best price to purchase the k cups. Another option is to directly contact the manufacture and ask if they will be placing the coffee on special or offering it at a discount rate at any time through out the year.

Are All Coffee Pods the Same?

Posted by Admin on 11 Feb 2011 | Filed under: Uncategorized

Coffee pods are perfect in making one cup of coffee at a time. However, they are not one and the same. They come in various flavours and sizes which can make it a hassle to find one that fits perfectly to your pod brewer.

There are many advantages to using pods. First among them is the lack of need for measuring coffee grounds. You do not need to tweak the measurements just to get the right taste. There are no trials and errors. With a pod, you just insert it in your brewer and it brews consistent taste of coffee all the time.

Also, they are less messy. You can just discard the pod after using. Unlike coffee beans, some of them can make a mess on your counter top or your brewer. However, there are a lot of limitations reining this type of coffee.

You need to find the right one that fits perfectly for your pod brewer. They are not made in a standard size which is a letdown. You might find the one that you would like to try but it can be too big for your pod machine. Also, the flavours are somewhat limited. If you are a java enthusiast, you will be disappointed with the choices presented today.

There are, however, espresso pods and tea pods. You just need to look for one with the right size and one that you like the taste above all.

Before you decide to purchase a pod brewer, get to know first where you can purchase a supply for the pods. Choose the one that has the flavour you love. Senseo Company makes some great gourmet pods. They offer it in espresso, decaf, cappuccino, dark roasts and many more.

Their pods have been given good reviews by people. Their sales pitch will clue you up that they do make flavourful pods. You can buy them in packs already so you are saving a lot of money. Lately, they have launched new flavours to choose from and many consumers say that the flavours do make their taste buds sing.

Milestone is another choice for your coffee pod needs. It is a little more expensive than Senseo but reviews say it is worth the price because it is falvorful. You also get a lot of pods in one package so you are technically saving more.

Pick your favourite one first before investing in a pod Melita coffee maker. This way, you can have the best team-up every day in brewing your cup of coffee.

Coffee Pods, T-Disks and K-Cups

Posted by Admin on 10 Feb 2011 | Filed under: Uncategorized

Before brewing coffee with coffee pods, before even purchasing or pricing the coffee pods you’re planning to brew with, you’ll want to pick up a coffee pod brewer. Not all of them are exactly the same, so you will need to do some research to match everything up. Various difference sizes of pods are available, and some pods will not fit some brewers. The safest way to find the right pod for the right brewer, or right brewer for the pods, would be to check the grams per pod against the brewer’s capacity.

Though there are many coffee pod brewers that can hold up to twelve gram pods, there are some that can only hold between four and nine grams. Some coffee pod brewers require the larger coffee pods to be pre-infused, which is actually nothing more than wetting the pod before placing it in the brewer, which creates a better seal on the outer filter material.

You’re not going to be able to tell if a pod will fit a machine just by looking, either. All of the pods currently on the market are between 55mm and 61mm, making it virtually impossible to tell the difference with only the human eye.

Very different than coffee pods, T-Discs and K-Cups are also floating around on the market. These are not an “open format” like the coffee pods; not just anyone can make them. Producers need permission and a license, which means selection of T-Discs and K-Cups is very limited in comparison to coffee pods. Strangely, T-Discs are also not Kosher.

The only device that you can use a T-Disc in is the Tassimo Hot Beverage Machine. The Tassimo Hot Beverage Machine can only use T-Discs. Although this limits your options, there are some advantages to T-Discs over other types of coffee brewing methods.

A T-Disc for cappuccino, for example, will actually be a package with separate groups of discs; some will contain milk, and some will contain coffee grounds. Although not quite as quick or convenient as coffee pods, this method does avail the Tassimo system the flexibility to offer latte, cappuccino, and even hot chocolate, complete with frothy toppings, in addition to your standard cup of coffee.

Since you’ll be investing in the future of your coffee buying, you’ll want to put quite a bit of research into your choice of a single cup coffee brewer. It’s not like you can change your mind later, after all…at least not without buying a new coffee brewer.

The Cowboy Guide to Making Coffee

Posted by Admin on 09 Feb 2011 | Filed under: Uncategorized

Ok, so your Melita coffee maker is broken and you need a little caffeine boost. Don’t worry pilgrim, making your own cup of coffee is simple if you follow these easy instructions. American cowboys are known as rugged outdoorsmen. The iconic image of a cowboy is with his horse beside a campfire in a desert valley. Being the tough guys that they were, they could whip up a cup of coffee with the bare essentials, a saucepan, water, and coffee beans. Here’s how you can do the same.

If you’re just making coffee for yourself, grab an old saucepan, and fill it with two cups of water. You’re going to add four or five tablespoons of ground coffee for every two cups of water. Boil the water and then quickly take the pan off the stove. Then you’re going to let the grounds naturally settle to the bottom of the pan, which shouldn’t take more than five minutes. Next, you carefully pour the water into a cup, and whala, you have a cup of cowboy coffee! To make it even more fun, make it over a real fire.

The Original Cowboy Coffee is done like this:

4 quarts water

1 1/2 cups freshly ground coffee

1 egg shell

1/2 cup cold water

Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan or coffee pot. Add coffee

grounds and egg shell to boiling water. Return to a boil, then remove

from heat and let stand for 2 minutes. Slowly add cold water to settle

grounds to the bottom. Strain if desired.

Useful Tips:

The key to any coffee is to make sure the water is hot, but doesn’t actually start boiling. Boiling might make the coffee bitter, so your best bet is to heat it enough so that the coffee grounds move throughout the water, without it actually boiling or bubbling violently.

Posted by Admin on 09 Feb 2011 | Filed under: Uncategorized

Are you always on the go? Do you find yourself rushing to the door every morning, with barely enough time for breakfast? Can’t live without the usual cup of morning coffee but your Melita coffeemaker takes forever to brew? Then perhaps you should consider getting one of those One Cup Coffee Makers instead!

I love coffee. I drink mine cafe solo, which, translated to English from Spanish, means “black coffee.” I have to get a cup of it as soon as I wake up in the morning, one after lunch and another right before bed. I get withdrawal symptoms when I don’t drink my coffee – and I’m not exaggerating here. That’s why having the right Melita coffeemaker is very important to me.

I used to own a regular brewer. You know those – the ones that can brew up to ten cups at one time. But the problem I encountered with brewers like these is that they take so long to brew. And with my busy schedule, I don’t have time to sit around and smell the coffee while it brews.

Luckily, I found one of those One Cup Coffee Makers at our local superstore one day. Being single, it was ideal for me. No more standing at the counter, pleading with the Melita coffee maker to brew faster. Since it only makes a single cup, my One Cup Coffee Maker can brew me a steaming mug in less than five minutes! Plus, I don’t have to bear up with drinking old, leftover coffee. I get a fresh cup each time!

If you’re single and always on the go, One Cup Coffee Makers are for you!

There are several different machines that are an excellent choice for brewing a large batch of coffee and do an excellent job of it. There are some things, however, that you are going to need to keep in mind.

Use the Best Ingredients

Regardless of whether you are making coffee for large group or if you’re only making it for an intimate gathering, the ingredients that go into the pot are going to make the difference in what comes out of it.

First of all, the coffee beans that you use can make all the difference whenever it comes to the way that the coffee tastes. This is especially true when ever you are making coffee for a large group and the bean that you choose should be one that would appeal to the most people.

Another thing that you want to keep in mind is the fact that coffee is basically a water-based drink. If you use inferior water to fill the coffee pot, you are going to come out with an inferior brew. Be sure to use fresh, cold water and a clean pot to make your coffee taste great.

Don’t Forget the Creamer

Lastly, you need to make sure that you have all of the condiments that are necessary to go along with the perfect cup of coffee. Even if you don’t care for cream or sugar in your coffee, there is bound to be somebody at your gathering that does. For those individuals, it makes all the difference of whether they are going to enjoy the cup of coffee or not.

If you get all of these things right, you will surely make great coffee that will leave a lasting impression on any large group.

Coffee Filters – How Important Are They?

Posted by Admin on 08 Feb 2011 | Filed under: Uncategorized

Remember those sharp bursts of music so familiar in horror flicks. Short, sharp piercing sounds enough to scare the living daylights out of you. I recently experienced those unwelcome sounds when I went to my cupboard to grab a coffee filter and to my horror, there were none there! My life flashed before my eyes and I started having all sorts of horrible thoughts…like having an instant coffee or trying some of my wife’s decaffeinated!

So, this article is dedicated to that wonderful piece of technology… the coffee filter and I guarantee you will not give it a passing glance ever again!

The History Of The Coffee Filter

It must have been a “Newton” moment for coffee filters back in the 1700’s when a sock was used to make the first cup of filtered coffee. The story goes something like this… a person couldn’t stand the sight of coffee grounds in his cup so used a smelly sock to filter it out. The idea must have had some merit because it caught on and the coffee filter was born. Metal filters followed and of course, present day, it’s the paper filters which adourn the cupboards of most households who indulge in the little “black stuff.”

Coffee Filter Fact

Melitta coffee filters are widely known and used. They were first used in 1908 by German Melitta Benz, who wanted to avoid the bitter taste in the coffee. It was a ground-breaking moment in the history of coffee as the first paper filter was born!

What Type Of Coffee Filter Do You Prefer?

Believe it or not, coffee filters come in gold! No, not gold blend but actual gold filters. It’s said they are designed to allow the coffee’s natural oils into the cup and this in turn provides a better taste. But, being gold, they are likely to be pricey so may not be everyone’s “cup of tea.” The advantage with gold coffee filters is their durability and they will last for quite some time.

The paper coffee filter is the most common filter on the market and many will say thay can give a paper like taste to the coffee. It’s a personal thing really and from my viewpoint, I think they are fine. Probably not the preferred filter of choice for the true coffee connosseur but at least you don’t end up with grounds in the bottom of your cup.

Melitta Coffee Filters

Melitta Benz started something special just after the turn of the 20th century with her filters and they are just about the most widely used today. These paper filters are said to have benefits in keeping harmful cholesterol levels low because of the oils which are trapped in the filter. Again, it’s personal taste and also being a lover of percolated coffee, I don’t give the oils too much thought. However, if you need to keep a check on your cholesterol levels then melitta coffee filters are the ideal filter.

Other Types Of Filters

You’ll get a debate on the subject of coffee most times and it seems it’s no different with filters. Paper, metal or cloth. Cloth will certainly be the environmental choice and will give good service for several months while metal obviously costs more but lasts a long time and has good environmental qualities. Paper traps most of the oils but some prefer they get through yet it is very inexpensive and the mess factor is very low. It’s the good thing about coffee. It’s all personal taste. So, what is your filter preference?
